Vehicle Excise Duty - 3rd Jul, 2008

Sian James MP has made comments following last night's Commons vote on VEP

"I understand that people's concerns on this issue and this is why I signed EDM 1464 on the retrospective effect of the vehicle excise duty changes announced in Budget 2008 to take effect from 2009.

"There has been concerns that this will be a heavy tax on working people and the Government has decided to review their plans for retrospective changes.

"Given the complexities of the budget highly unlikely that the Chancellor can do such a fast change and I believe that we should give the Chancellor time to come forward with proposals."
