Cwmrhydyceirw Quarry - 30th Jun, 2008
Sian James MP has vowed to fight plans to resume landfill tipping at Cwmrhydyceirw Quarry near Morriston.
Sian James MP said:-"I am very disappointed that the Environment Agency is to issue a permit for land filling at Cwmrhydyceirw Quarry.
“The community has had to endure the quarry's existence and has put up with much inconvenience over the years.
“It is unimaginable that they are going to have to put up with it reopening.
“I have sough clarification from the Environment Agency and I understand that in a month a draft permit will be issued.
“The Environment agency has written to all stakeholders to bring this to their attention and has asked to meet with stakeholders to fully brief them on this situation.
“I will continue to oppose the reopening of the quarry and will fight the latest developments."
