Teletext TV Services - 15th May, 2008

Sian James raised concerns over the transfer of analogue teletext services at Culture, Media & Sport Questions

Sian James MP said:

"Constituents in Swansea East have drawn to my attention their concerns over the future of Ceefax and Teletext services, following digital switchover.

"Many people currently enjoy the services offered by Ceefax and Telextext, and the majority of these pages have not been transferred to digital text.

"I wanted to ask the Secretary of State, what plans television companies had to transfer all of their services over to digital text and that popular pages, currently offered by Ceefax and Teletext are not lost in this process.

"I believe there is a lack of information on digital text available and more should be done by the authorities to explain what will happen with regard to older teletext services.

"The Secretary of State assured me that he would look into these concerns and work with me to ensure that the choice currently available on analogue will continue when digital takes over in Swansea."
