All Party Parliamentary Group on Rail in Wales - 19th Feb, 2008

Sian James has been elected chair of a new All-Party Group of MPs focussing on Rail in Wales
Sian James MP said:-"Following a meeting between South Wales MPs and First Great Western trains in December 2007, it was proposed that an All-Party Parliamentary Group on Rail in Wales, be formed.
"I agreed to take this proposal forward and organise a formal opportunity for Welsh MPs to meet with rail operators, user groups and bodies such as Network Rail.
"The inaugural meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Wales took place on 19 February. I was elected Chairperson of the APPG. The meeting was very successful and was attended by several Welsh MPs and rail representatives from many of the different rail companies and organisations.
"It was agreed to invite the Minister for Railways to the next meeting so that MPs could draw a number of concerns to his attention."
