Swansea Station Upgrade - 27th Jul, 2007

Swansea station could be refurbished and upgraded under plans unveiled by Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly.
Ms Kelly said that Swansea would also benefit from improved reliability and capacity on services to London thanks to a £425m project at Reading station to tackle one of the busiest bottlenecks on Britain's rail network.
Commenting on the announcement by Ruth Kelly on the investment for Swansea, Sian James MP said:
"I understand that Swansea station is part of the package to update railway centres throughout the UK. This recognises Swansea as a key railway city - an important long distance terminus and the gateway to West Wales. I welcome this news and I am writing to Ruth Kelly for more details.
"News that Reading Station will be revamped, removing the current rail bottle-neck, will also allow for quicker journeys to Swansea.
"Both will benefit people who use trains to and from Swansea."
