Prime Minister

Sian James MP has commented on the events of the departure of Tony Blair and the confirmation of Gordon Brown as Prime Minister.

Sian James MP said:-

"Today has been an historic day for the UK with Tony Blair leaving Downing Street after more than 10 years as Prime Minister.

"Prime Minister's Questions saw extraordinary scenes for the House of Commons. At the end of questions, Tony Blair's last words were "That is it. The End.", where the whole Chamber rose in appreciation. Usually, applause is not allowed in the chamber."

Mrs James then spoke about the Confirmation of Gordon Brown as Prime Minister:-

"I have always been very supportive of Gordon and I was very excited by many of the things he said in his speech when he took over as party leader.

Mrs James added; "What people are telling me in my constituency is that they want us to focus on core issues such as health, education and affordable housing."
