Constituency
Swansea East
Swansea East covers the eight wards on the east part of our City. They are Bonymaen, Cwmbwrla, Landore, Llansamlet, Morriston, Mynydd Bach, Penderry, and St. Thomas. There are around 58,000 electors in the Swansea East constituency.
As a local MP I take a great deal of interest in every aspect of life in the constituency. I was born in Morriston, so I am passionate about getting the best deal for our community.
Local Issues
Since my election in May 2005, I have been involved already in many local issues in every corner of Swansea East.
The constituency is a microcosm of the whole country. Swansea is a traditional maritime city, the constituency starts in the SA1 area and moves north, which once was an area on heavy industry, however this has now changed to significant retail outlets in the Hafod / Landore areas and across the Enterprise Park.
We also must not forget our wonderful new Liberty Stadium. The rest of the constituency is made up of mainly densely populated urban areas.
Every time there is a national issue, the constituency always seems to have a local angle. This means I seem to be involved in everything! However, there are also many very specific local issues where I have met residents and joined their campaigns. Issues like Road Safety, free-cash machines, better public transport, protecting children and major developments.
These are all issues where I have been approached and helped constituents. I will continue to do so, if you want me to get involved in your campaign get in touch here.
